It’s finally 2019.  This is your year.  The year you have it all.  The year you drop 30 pounds, make a million dollars, find the love of your life, start a business, run a marathon, write a book and travel to every continent on the planet, right?  Maybe.

But maybe not.

I love goal setting and I’m a huge believer in setting stretch goals that break you out of your comfort zone.  But what if we scaled back a bit.  Like all the way back.

Let’s start with a word. One word that sets the framework for what you need to improve, what you want to accomplish, where you visualize yourself in 2019.

For me, that word in 2019 is FOCUS.  Focus on the journey.  Focus on what I can control.  Focus on where I am, right now.  Focus on one task at a time.  If I focus on this, that seems I’m not focusing on certain things also.  For me, that’s removing the focus on “likes”, downloads and retweets.  Removing the focus on doubt and fear.  Removing the focus on comparing myself to others.

This exercise was brought to my attention by bestselling author Jon Gordon and has been replicated by other people I admire, such as previous podcast guest Yogi Roth.

What’s your one word or phrase?  I’d love to hear from you.
