One of the six-packs last week was a link to the podcast between Ed Mylett and NFL Hall-of-Famer Tony Gonzalez.  I liked it so much that I listened to the episode twice, sent it to a handful of close friends and am writing a longer-form article on it dropping tomorrow.

One thing that really stuck with me was Gonzalez’s morning meditation routine.  I’ll just leave this here for you folks…

“Every morning when I wake up, I don’t even up my eyes.  I relax my body again… I picture my heart opening up. I picture a light coming out… I picture joy, I picture fulfillment, I picture compassion, kindness, I picture fearlessness, I picture power, unlimited ability through all that light.  I feel the light shooting out of my body into the room then into the neighborhood then around the globe and me touching everything and seeing everything as God, seeing everything as connected…

He continues…

Now my heart is open and then I put the visualization in there. Now I see myself in 3-5 years where I’m gonna be.  I see the best version of myself. Then I see myself doing this, what is my day going to be like? I go there now. I see myself being part of world positive businesses, I see myself doing a great podcast, I see myself at the main desk at Fox – or whatever it is.  You build the greatest version of yourself. You see yourself in great shape, eating great food. Then you see your day going that way.”

I’ve been using Gonzalez’s method for about 5 minutes each morning the past week and it’s completely shifted the way I start my day.

Check back tomorrow with a full article – and let’s make this a great week!

Weekly Six-Pack
Here are the 6 things to check out this week:

  1. Last week I wrote about the worst present I ever got.
  2. I went on the hunt for new podcasts and found Broken Record with Malcolm Gladwell and Rick Rubin.  Rubin is a legend in the music industry, co-founded Def Jam Records and is a mix of Hip-Hop Mogul and zen master.  I loved this episode with Andre 3000.
  3. If you haven’t been following my daily email, Daily Momentum, here was the top-performing message of the week.
  4. I remember Jerry Seinfeld saying there’s no such thing as “quality time” on an episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.  I loved this article by Ryan Holiday on the same topic.
  5. The past two weeks have been a good slowdown time to reflect.  This article pairs well on the topic of how busyness leads to bad decisions
  6. Ever wondered what I looked like 10 years ago?  Here ya go, people!  It’s been a hell of a decade and I’m excited for the next 10.

Quote of the Week

“Habit is the intersection of knowledge (what to do), skill (how to do), and desire (want to do).”
