Hey Folks!  Tommy “Tahoe” Alaimo here.  Welcome back to The Weekly Six-Pack where I share the six best things I’m enjoying, thinking about, and experiencing each week.

Quote of the Week

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. the secret to getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming task into small manageable tasks and then starting on the first one.”

– Mark Twain

Weekly Six-Pack
Here are the 6 things to check out this week:

  1. Coming this week to the podcast (Tuesday) is Jake Dunlap, CEO & Founder of Skaled Consulting. If you want a feel for Jake, check out this LinkedIn post. Subscribe here on AppleSpotify or YouTube.
  2. I’ve been listening to What I Learned Losing A Million Dollars on Audible. The summary: there are an infinite amount of ways to get rich but only a few psychological reasons why people lose their money. The author details how he lost a million dollars in a few short months and what we can learn from that.
  3. Holy smokes, this podcast with Hilary Swank on Impact Theory is good. I had no idea that Swank was so tenacious and competitive.
  4. Also in the podcast world, I mentioned last week I’ve tried The Armchair Expert Podcast. Update: I’m hooked. From Tom Brady to Bill Gates to Gwyneth Paltrow to Atul Gawande, Dax toes the line between inspiration and comedy.
  5. Who to follow: Shane Parrish, Founder of the Farnam Street blog, is one of my favorite thinkers.
  6. Selfish question: who has a good recommendation for a great headphone/microphone situation to block out sound? I’m living on a busy street with construction and am trying to block that out for my sales calls, podcasts, etc.

This Week

This week, I had the great Marcus Chan on the Millennial Sales podcast. My one takeaway from Marcus is that he is disciplined as all hell and is obsessed with personal development. If nothing else, you should listen to this episode just to hear his morning routine.

To some, that level of focus is crazy. But there’s no doubt that it’s helped him to be successful as a salesperson, leader, and entrepreneur.

We’re not made by our goals. We’re made by our habits. And as Aristotle once wrote, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Are you in the habit of excellence? If not, you may learn a thing or two from Marcus. I sure did.

You can listen here or find Millennial Sales on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
