I joined the B2B sales world just over 6 years ago.

It’s completely changed my life.

Here are 6 things I wish someone told me when I first started 👇

1) Embrace A Growth Mindset

Just like playing the violin or making homemade pizza, the first time you try selling, you’re going to stink. Know that and embrace the attitude of getting 1% better every day.

2) 51/49

Make every interaction more valuable (at least 51%) for the other person. A prospect, customer, boss, etc. – be selfless.

3) Be A Student of the Game

Dive deep into books, podcasts, conferences, anything to better understand how to sell – and learn about your customers.

4) Survive Your First Year

Some of the best salespeople I know wanted to quit in the first 6 months. There will be so much adversity in the beginning, but there are great things on the other side of it.

5) Find Help

People want to help someone who is hungry and humble. Bosses, mentors, colleagues, random people on LinkedIn. You can learn something from anyone.

6) Be YOU

Everyone has their own style and ways of communicating. It’s natural to copy someone you admire early on but the sooner you find your own “secret sauce”, the better you’ll perform in the long run.
